Bill C-11 — Online Streaming Act amendment

Government amendment to expand CRTC authority over user-generated content.

Against
Our reasoning

This amendment expands government control over what Canadians see online. We opposed it on principle and will continue to oppose any legislation that gives unelected regulators authority over internet speech.

Feb 2026Passed 179–141

Budget Implementation Act — Carbon pricing schedule

Annual increase to federal carbon tax from $65 to $80 per tonne.

Against
Our reasoning

The carbon tax increases costs for working Canadians while doing little to reduce emissions. We voted against and will continue to do so. We support clean energy investment as an alternative.

Feb 2026Passed 201–87

Canadian Armed Forces deployment — Eastern Europe

Extension of Canadian military presence in Latvia for 24 months.

Against
Our reasoning

We support defensive alliances. We do not support open-ended foreign deployments without a clear mandate, defined objectives, and an exit strategy. We asked for all three. None were provided.

Jan 2026Passed 211–97

Housing Accelerator Fund — Phase 2

$4 billion in federal funding tied to municipal zoning reform.

For
Our reasoning

We supported this because it ties federal money to actual density increases. It is imperfect — the conditions are too weak — but the direction is correct. We will push for stronger conditions in Phase 3.

Dec 2025Passed 224–64

Digital Charter Implementation Act — Data privacy amendment

Increased penalties for corporate data breaches affecting Canadians.

For
Our reasoning

Stronger penalties for corporations that fail to protect Canadians' data. We supported this unanimously. We would have preferred stricter individual rights provisions but this is a step in the right direction.
